A journey through history Tours, the city of castles, was once the capital of the kingdom of France in the 15th and 16th centuries. Located in west-central France, the city lies between the banks of the Loire and Cher rivers. Just an hour by train from Paris, the IRONMAN 70.3 Tours Métropole - Loire Valley will offer athletes a glimpse of everything the Loire Valley has to offer, from medieval and Renaissance castles steeped in history, to verdant parks and riverside paths, on a course set to be one of the fastest in France.

The 1.9km (1.2 miles) ROKA swimming course takes the form of a rectangle in the Cher River, a tributary of the Loire. Enjoy yourself, even if the spectators all around the river will be urging you to go fast!Bike course
Athletes will then take on a 90 km (56 mile) flat bike course, a loop that will take them along the banks of the Cher River, past some of the region's historic castles, including the most famous, the Château d'Ussé, which inspired the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. The château is distinguished by its French Renaissance style and spectacular turrets. Aid stations: 18km, 47km, 72kmRun course
The 21.1 km (13.1 mile) SALOMON running course, in the form of two loops, will offer athletes a glimpse of the banks of the Cher and its artificial island, the Parc Honoré de Balzac. The day will end with a festive 100% indoor finish in the Parc des Expositions de Tours. Aid stations: 1.4km , 3.8km ,6.3km ,8.4km, 9.3km, 12.1km, 14.5km, 16.9km, 19.1km, 19.9km
